The Centre for Adult Educators (CAE) is a unit of the Department of Learning in
Adult, Popular and Higher Education, The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at
Linköping University.
CAE has a variety of activities with the aim to build bridges between research,
development projects and education within Adult and Popular education. CAE is
responsible for the Swedish Folk High School Teacher Training Programme.
CAE endeavour to be a meeting place for Adult educators, teachers, cultural
workers and researchers on the national level as well as on the international
level.
CAE has an international outlook and co-operates with many countries. The first
exchanges were established in the late 1970's with African countries as Tanzania
and South Africa. For many years CAE had a commission on training programs in
Adult Education in African and South American countries.
New links of co-operation has been established with universities and popular
movements in other parts of the world. The exchange of students and knowledge
between the Nordic countries and the new linkages with the Baltic countries and
Central and Eastern Europe contribute to the internationalisation.
Within the EU Socrates Programme the Faculty of Arts and Science has close
agreements of
co-operation with more than 90 universities in 21 countries.
